CHOC EXPANSION AND CONSTRUCTION UPDATES

New CHOC Children's Tower

CHOC Children’s Is Building One Of The Most Advanced Children’s Hospitals In The World!

Committed to making Orange County one of the healthiest places for children in the nation, CHOC is building a new state-of-the-art patient care tower set to open on our main campus in Spring 2013.

When completed, the new CHOC Children’s Hospital will continue to provide and expand innovative tertiary and quaternary pediatric care. The tower will add 425,524 square feet of space and include a new and advanced pediatric emergency department, operating rooms and related services, laboratory, pathology, imaging and radiology services.

To promote a serene, healing environment for children and their families, the tower will also feature leading design and safety principles; private rooms and enhanced family amenities; open and inviting colorful spaces; a spacious new lobby; an outdoor space and cafe; as well as areas for work, study, play and reflection.

The building process for a project this size is complex and lengthy, but we are working diligently to limit inconveniences caused by the construction, and remain dedicated to the highest standards of patient care and safety.

We are also committed to keeping you informed of our upcoming construction activities:

  • Pepper Street – through July 9, 2010; 3 p.m. - 11 p.m. – utility work, partial lanes will be narrowed or closed.
  • Providence Avenue  June 30 to July 12, 2010; 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. – utility work, partial lanes will be narrowed or closed.
  • La Veta Avenue – July 12 to September 29, 2010; 9 p.m. - 6 a.m. – utility work, partial lanes will be narrowed or closed.

Please note: Two-way traffic and access to the main hospital and adjacent buildings will be maintained at all times.

  • Main Lobby work – July 19-23, 2010 – temporary wall construction; some noise and vibration may be experienced during this time.

Parking / Shuttle Service / Valet

  • Free Parking for our patients, families and visitors is available in the five-story visitor parking structure, off of Main Street and Providence Avenue.
  • Free Shuttle service for our patients, families and visitors is available to and from the hospital, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Shuttle stops are located in front of the main hospital driveway, and on Providence Avenue in front of the visitor parking structure.
  • Valet service is available for $4. Valet booths are located in front of the main hospital entrance and on the 1st level of the visitor parking structure.

During the construction, traffic patterns may change and barricades/fencing will be erected.  For your safety, please pay close attention to signage and flagmen to help you navigate safely around our campus.
